Thinking about the universe keeps your problems small; there are whole galaxies of problems out there.
On October 23, 2026, the US Department of War published its seventh batch of declassified UAP files on war.gov/UFO: 28 documents spanning 1949 to 2026. The headline is a case from this year, in which federal agents describe a matte black triangle rising in total silence. Here is where every sighting in the release took place, according to the files themselves.
The sighting locations
- Undisclosed national security site, western US (2026; CBS reports June): Federal agents report a dark, non-reflective triangle (9-15 ft wingspan) rising vertically in silence, hovering about 20 seconds, then speeding off; a ground search the next morning found no debris. The files do not name the exact site. (AARO memo D176, FBI FD-302 D043)
- Over Saudi Arabia (Jan 18, 1957): A B-52 crew tracked an unidentified return on its gunnery scope for five to seven minutes.
- Near Guam (Dec 31, 1956): An F-86D pilot chased a blinking light; a lighted weather balloon launched that night was a possible explanation.
- Near Sassari, Sardinia, Italy (Aug 27, 1952): A professor described a green-blue luminous sphere, larger than the full moon, streaking east to west.
- British Columbia, Canada (Nov 13, 1953): Three US airmen watched a blinking blue-white light descend to about 150 ft, hover, climb and depart west.
- Soviet zone near Berlin, Germany (Aug 10-11, 1953): British airline pilots reported red “rockets” and a stationary red light about 20 nautical miles west of Genthin.
- Northern French Morocco / Mediterranean (Dec 16, 1953): A radar unit tracked a return shifting between V, W and M shapes; likely anomalous propagation, jamming or birds.
- Little Diomede, Alaska (Oct 6, 1953): A resident saw a spotlight-like light on the tip of Big Diomede, USSR.
- St. Lawrence Island, Alaska (Dec 1, 1953): A Guard sergeant saw a stationary light west of Gambell for five minutes; possibly a ship.
- Near Hassleholm, Sweden (Dec 17, 1953): A DC-3 crew reported a shining metallic elliptical object passing below them at roughly the speed of sound.
- Near Seymour, Indiana (Dec 1953, exact date not given): Two motorists reported a brilliant light and two glowing, cloud-like objects that shot off to the southwest.
- Catalina Island, California (Apr 28, 1949): A letter to Kenneth Arnold describes six objects seen at night; filed as insufficient data.
- Catalina Island (June 25, 1952): Three Boy Scouts at Camp Fox reported silver “flying saucers” faster than a jet.
- Catalina Island (Nov 16, 1953): A round purplish-white object hovered, then moved toward Los Angeles; astronomers suggested Jupiter.
- Avalon, Catalina Island (Mar 15, 1955): A bright orange object, likely astronomical.
- A ranch in Utah (2009-2010): Bigelow (BAASS) contractor reports collect residents’ accounts of orbs of light, “dog-like bipedal creatures” and “little people.” The files do not name the ranch.
The rest of the release (BAASS program paperwork, 1960s space-debris memos, and a personnel record) contains no sightings.
Closing thought
What stands out is the mix. Several 1950s cases end with ordinary explanations: a balloon, a planet, birds. The 2026 triangle, though, is still officially unresolved, and AARO says it closely matches other reports from the same region. That is not proof of anything off-world, but it is a good reason to keep looking, and to read the source files yourself.
